Royal Enfield pulled the plug on the Classic 500 last year in India, but not before launching a limited-edition Tribute Black model. It now seems the thumper isn’t ready to go just yet. The Royal Enfield Classic 500 Tribute Black’s concluding chapter will be in Australia, where the company will put 200 units on sale, while New Zealand will get 40 examples.
The limited edition Classic 500 comes draped in glossy black with a dab of gold, which includes pinstriping by the famed Kumar brothers and rim stickers to match it. Further adding to the exclusivity is the serial numbered plaque that marks the last of build specials for the iconic UCE 500cc engine that rolled out of the Oragadam factory in Chennai. Other changes on the bike include the touring mirrors and touring seat from RE’s accessories catalogue as standard on the Tribute Black.
The Royal Enfield Classic 500 Tribute Black sports no mechanical changes and continues to use the same 499cc thumper churning out 27.6PS and 41.3Nm. Of course, going with the theme, the engine and the exhaust too are finished in black.
Interestingly, Royal Enfield Australia has skipped the military saddle bags, something the blokes in the UK got with their Tribute Black edition. The Royal Enfield Classic 500 Tribute Black has been priced at AUD 9,590 which translates to Rs 5.39 lakh. In the land of Kiwis, the Tribute Black will set you back by Rs 5.05 lakh plus taxes. The bike will hit showrooms by the end of this month and will be offered with two-year warranty and roadside assistance.
